Federal Estate Tax Inflation Adjustments for 2010
Because our current Federal estate tax (FET) law reflects Republican philosophy, and because we believe that our Federal economy cannot tolerate elimination of the FET, we are surprised that our Democratic Congress did not change our current FET law before the end of 2009. We believe that Congress will enact, and President Obama will sign, legislation that will change the law so that the FET exclusion amount more nearly approximates what we have now. In the meantime, we suggest that anyone whose net worth is over $1 million schedule an estate plan review meeting with us to discuss the best strategy to minimize estate taxes.
